Interested
in joining the Arran Wargames Club? Not sure what it’s all
about? Well, miniature wargaming is a recreational hobby where players
simulate a battle covering a specific historical
(World
War II, Napoleonic's, Ancients) or fantasy (like Lord
Of The Rings) period, which is played out using small figurines to
represent the land, sea and/or air units involved.
Many miniatures
wargames are played on a floor or tabletop, with terrain represented by
miniature scenery (hills, forests, roads, fences, buildings, etc). Movement of the miniatures is usually regulated using
turns and a tape measure,
with dice to simulate combat and your troops morale. However, like boardgames, miniature games
can also be played using gridded terrain (squares or
hexagons) or even gameboards.
Feel free to come along to the clubs venue at the Arran High
School (Sunday's : 1PM till 4PM : Next Session - Cancelled Until Further Notice!) to see what wargaming is
all about. We're always happy to welcome new members, so come
along with friends and/or family and have a quick look, you'll be
impressed by some of the scenery and models on display by the current
members. Chat with the various warmongers about what their
playing or even how to collect the figures, everyone has their own
favourites!
