The Battleships Deploy!
Both fleets have sign of each other. Firing up engines, both
fleets make sail and send out air reconnaissance to oversee the enemy
forces position. The Italian fleet is outnumbered, but the
battleship Richelieu carries a deadly arsenal of battery guns and heavy
armour to match any cruiser or destroyer class ships. |

The battleship Richelieu makes headway for the American fleet. Armed
with 380mm guns, the ships caption knows the opposing fleet is no match in
open combat. The faster American ships move broadside to catch a
volley before the enemy get into firing position. |

The faster moving American ships scatter for better firing positions and
add to the confusion of the battle. The German Kondor (a patrol
bomber) makes straight for the aircraft carrier, whilst the squadron of
Dauntless get close to the enemy battleship! |

Incoming Air Strike!
Making a fly by towards the USS Princeton aircraft carrier, the
Kondor comes under heavy flak and gun fire from the two support ships. |

The Kondor patrol bomber suffers heavy damage as it approaches the
aircraft carrier. Undaunted, it continues on, knowing even more flak
fire awaits it from the USS Princeton! |

Regardless of the consequences, the Kondor gets close enough to drop it's
bomb load on the stationery aircraft carrier. But, the flak fire
from the aircraft carrier seals the fate of the plane! |

Wipeout!
Having taken heavy flak fire, the Kondor explodes in mid-air!
However, the damage is done to the stationery aircraft carrier take-off
decks, causing the remaining flight crews to take shelter as the fire
crews work on the damage. |

Going back to the previous game round, the American dive bombers move into
striking range, heading right at the battleship Richelieu! |

Airstrike - "Aim for the heart!"

Under heavy flak fire, the pilots aim for the control centre of the ship. |

Success, but at a heavy price
Giving their lives for the fleet, the band of pilots lose their planes, but score
heavy hits across the decks of the battleship. Having damaged the
control centre, the ship struggles to position itself as the American
fire! |

Heavy broadsides all round!
Having made good headway, the Allies ships have already found the
range of the two Axis ships! But the Axis ships return fire with
deadly accuracy and cripple the USS Fletcher. |

Moving away, the crippled destroyer seeks protection behind the heavy
cruiser, USS Salt Lake City. The Richelieu has suffered similar
damage, but the heavy armour keeps the ship steady! However, a fast
moving destroyer-escort has gotten close enough to let rip with a volley
of torpedoes! |

Having taken heavy hits from the torpedoes, the Richelieu
has to make a hasty retreat before it suffers another strike. The
smaller destroyer gives covering fire, but having suffered from previous
hits, offers little resistance to the oncoming volleys. The
Richelieu has managed to make it's escape and makes for the German home
base. |

Without the shelter of the battleship, the German supply ship is easy
pickings for the two American ships, who give the warning to crew to
abandon ship before sinking with some heavy shelling. |

Victory!
With the Richelieu making headway to the German base and the other
ships on fire or sinking, the victory is complete!The campaign for the
Greecian island of Anafi is complete, with the black smoke and exploding
fuel of Axis burning ships deep into the night. |
