Boardgames have been around since the beginning of
time, with more familiar ones like Chess, Checkers and Scrabble being
the ones people are familiar with. However, these have advanced

Boardgames can be just as exciting as any wargame
scenario, especially as the rules allow for more diversity in
gameplay,
covering
troop movements, types, morale, objectives and diplomacy, all in one
game!
Also,
the games allow for large numbers of people to sit in on one session,
whereas wargaming usually is a one-on-one affair.
Some of the more "recent" boardgames to appear have been based on
popular novels, like Dune by Frank Herbert. Even Lord of the
Rings has a multitude of boardgames available to play, ether as the
main characters struggling to destroy the ring or games based solely
on the armies of the fantasy time period.
