As the Russian and French commanders meet, a parley is discussed ... "safe
passage for all your brave French solders!" ... "Never! Vive La Emperor!
... you will need safe passage by the time this battle is won in his name
... Vive Napoleon ... Vive La Emperor!".
Both commanders part company
under a flag of truth and the another battle in the Napoleonic Wars
begins! |
| |
| |
The coalition of Russian, Brunswick & British troops
advance on the French position. The Scots Guard take the road and
move quick time to attack the French Young Guards. Followed closely
by a battalion of British regulars.
The Russian hold the middle ground, while the Black
Brunswickers drive to take control of the French left flank. |
| |
| |
The 12lbs Sound!
The massive 12lb cannons on both sides come to life, firing heavy ball
upon each others troops. Deadly against columns, the Scots take a
pounding as they drive towards the Young Guards. The coalition try
to knock out the French artillery, but to no avail. |
| |
| |
The French Hussars take the challenge by the
British Light Cavalry. In a face off, both cavalry columns gain
position to charge head on at full stride! |
| |
| |
The ground trembles with the thundering
hooves of both squadrons driving towards each other to finally clash in an
almighty battle amongst themselves. Whoever wins this struggle could
help sway the battle!
Both light squadrons are evenly matched and this battle could go on for
some time. |
| |
| |
As the cavalry melee continues, the Scots
Guards drive on, with the British regulars taking position to protect
their flank from the possible cavalry break-up.
The Russian form a line to gain the most effect position for firing of
their volley of muskets. |
| |
| |
An Ambush! A squadron of French
Cuirassier have been waiting to ambush the Brunswick troops! Caught
completely by surprise, the Cuirassiers charge right into the troops in
open play! |
| |
| |
It's a massacre! The troops run away in
a panic, their captains unable to get them into a square, the only defence
against any cavalry charge. The troops scatter wildly as the French
troopers begin the bloody massacre. |
| |
| |
The troops in reserve are called into square
by the commander. He can only watch in horror as his troops get cut
down to pieces by the heavy cavalry.
"Drive on my beauties!",
cries the commander to his troops in the field, "... drive on for your
fallen comrades!" |
| |
| |
Having sprung the trap, the French Line move
into position and drive towards the Russian troops. |
| |
| |
Drawing closer, the French columns move
quickly into position. Seeing this, the Russian captain moves his troops into
line, ready to give a volley when within range. The elite Russian
Guard hold position and prepare to charge on! |
| |
| |
The French tactics show the Russian how to
win wars! Holding back, they form line and give off a volley to
intimidate the Russian troops. Sending out the Russian light to give
fire back steadies the Russian soldiers. |
| |
| |
The rout of the Brunswick continues!
It's a bloody mess, but the French cavalry ignore orders to return to
their commander and continue to carve up the shaken troopers. The
blood lust takes over! |
| |
| |
Enraged by the Brunswick slaughter, the
Russian Guards charge into the French line. Heavy volley fire from
both sides sounds off all around the battlefield! |
| |
| |
The French under cover give off musket
volleys with deadly accurecy at the open Scots Guards. With the
support of their British support battalion, they hold firm! |
| |
| |
Volley after volley sound off as each side
moves closer. The casualties and wounds from the muskets are heavy
on both side, and the melee between the Russian Guard and French Line only
adds to the carnage. |
| |
| |
Although an excellent plan, the French
Cuirassier captain cannot control his troopers and they continue on with
the one sided battle, destroying the Brunswick battalions to near
extension!
Both groups effectively leave the battle. |
| |
| |
Whilst at the other end of the battle field,
the remaining opposing cavalry continue to struggle to gain ground on each
other. The only cavalry on the field, the struggle for dominance is
fierce! |
| |
| |
Having given a bank of volleys to the French
Guard behind the heavy hedges, the Scots Guard force home an attack with
fixed bayonets! ... "Come on lads! Let's show them some Scottish
steel!" ... The British Line follow in support. |
| |
| |
Hurray for the British Light Cavalry! The
French Hussars are broken and try to flee for their lives, with heavy
losses on both sides. With the Scots charging on in the background,
the French have suffered terrible losses during the battle. |
| |
| |
Seeing the tables turned, the commander
rallies his troops and drives onward to the heart of the battle behind his
Russian commrades. A small battlion of Russians quickly follow in
column formation.
The battle field is flooded with smoke and blood! |
| |
| |
Having suffered massive casualties, the
French lines break and scatter. The commander urges his troops on
finish the job .. "Have at them comrades!" .. "To the death!"
.. With the broken troops all around, the end is near for the French
soldiers. |
| |
| |
After an intense hand-to-hand battle with the
French Young Guard, mercy is given for the troops to retire.
A Scottish
Victory! (who would have thought it!?) |
| |
| |
The French Guards retreat and the lines are
routed, a great victory for the young Russian commander. With the
help of his British detachment, the battle is won! |
